WavePort — iOS App

Last updated: August 2026

WavePort is an iPhone app for DJs who want to prep and load a USB drive without opening a laptop. You bring in tracks (from the Files app, AirDrop, the cloud, or an existing USB), organise them into a set, and copy them to a USB stick in a layout that Pioneer CDJs and rekordbox understand — including BPM/key analysis, waveforms, hot cues, and crate/playlist folders. WavePort also matches your Spotify playlists against the music you already own, gives you a QR-based song-request and tipping page for the crowd, and can auto-log your sets.

Frequently asked questions

1. What USB drives and formats does WavePort work with?

WavePort writes to standard USB drives connected to your iPhone (via a USB-C or Lightning adapter / hub). For Pioneer CDJs and rekordbox to read the drive, it must be formatted as FAT32 or exFAT — those are the only filesystems the players read. If your drive is NTFS or something else, WavePort's USB Doctor will flag it and you'll need to reformat the drive (on a computer) first.

2. Which audio file formats are supported?

WavePort recognises common DJ audio formats: MP3, M4A/AAC/ALAC, MP4 audio, WAV, AIFF/AIF, FLAC, and OGG. BPM/key analysis and waveform generation work best on standard PCM and MP3 files; some exotic or DRM-protected files may not analyse.

3. Is WavePort compatible with rekordbox and Pioneer CDJs?

Yes. WavePort writes the Pioneer database and analysis files (the PIONEER folder, the .PDB library, and per-track analysis) that CDJs and rekordbox expect, so you can plug the drive straight into a CDJ or import it into rekordbox.

It isn't only Pioneer. With the matching setting enabled, WavePort also writes a real Serato DJ library (_Serato_/database V2 and a crate) and a real Engine DJ library (Engine Library/Database2/m.db) for Denon Prime gear — so tracks appear with BPM, key and length without being dragged in or re-analysed. There is also Traktor NML export, and a rekordbox XML with your hot cues for importing into rekordbox on a computer.

These are independent switches in Settings → Transfer. Turn on the ones matching the gear you actually play on; each writes its own library in its own folder and they don't interfere with each other.

4. rekordbox or my CDJ says the USB library is "corrupted." What do I do?

Open USB Doctor in WavePort and run a scan of the drive. If it detects a library problem it will show a "Fix rekordbox library" action — tap it and WavePort will re-sync and repair the library in place, without reformatting the drive. This usually resolves the "device library is corrupted" message and the "first track repeated" symptom.

To avoid corruption in the first place: fully close rekordbox and eject the USB from your computer before you transfer to that drive with WavePort. If rekordbox is holding the library file open while WavePort writes, the library can be damaged.

5. Why can't WavePort download my Spotify playlists as audio?

Spotify tracks are DRM-protected and cannot be exported as files by any third-party app — this is a hard restriction from Spotify, not a WavePort limitation. WavePort uses Spotify only to read your playlists and search the catalog, then matches those songs against music you already have, so you can quickly build a set from files you legally own. You supply the actual audio files.

6. Why does WavePort ask for microphone access?

Only for the optional automatic set-logging feature. WavePort listens for loudness to detect when you've started playing, so it can log your set for you. It does not record or store any audio — it only reads a loudness level on-device. You can skip this feature entirely, or revoke the permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone → WavePort.

7. Why does WavePort ask for my location?

Only to suggest a venue name when you import USB play history — a one-time lookup turned into a place name so you don't have to type it. You can decline and enter the venue name manually. Revoke it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → WavePort.

8. How do I manage, cancel, or restore my Pro subscription?

WavePort Pro is billed through Apple. To manage or cancel, go to iOS Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → WavePort, or open the App Store, tap your profile, and choose Subscriptions. To move your subscription to a new device or after reinstalling, use Restore Purchases on the app's Pro screen. If a valid subscription doesn't restore, make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID that made the purchase.

9. How does the song request / tips page work, and who can see it?

You get a QR code and link that point to your public request page. Fans scan it and submit a song (title, artist, optional note) and can tip you. Requests land in your in-app inbox, and you can be notified for each one. Your inbox, your private setup secret, and your payout details are protected on the server and are not visible to the crowd — the public page can only submit a request and show the tip options you chose to publish. For card / Apple Pay tips, payments are handled by Stripe; you can also list your own PayPal/Revolut handles.

10. iCloud sync isn't working — how do I troubleshoot it?

iCloud Sync backs up your app data (prep queue, set lists, history, settings) to your iCloud account. If it's not syncing: confirm you're signed into iCloud on the device (Settings → your name → iCloud), that iCloud is enabled for WavePort, that you have a network connection, and that Settings → iCloud Sync is turned on inside WavePort. iCloud Key-Value data can take a short while to propagate. If a restore shows nothing, make sure both devices use the same Apple ID.

11. Does WavePort track me or run ads?

No. WavePort has no ads, no third-party analytics, and no tracking SDKs. The vast majority of what it does happens entirely on your device. See the Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of the few features (song requests/tips, Spotify, iCloud, subscriptions) that involve a server, and what each one stores.
